Alanna Snyr… In her own words…..

My name is Alanna Snyr and I am currently training at Skywalker Flying in Adrian Michigan. I am working on my Private Pilot Certificate and have all of my requirements done to proceed on to the oral exam and check ride. I am a single mom of 2 teenagers and was a teacher for the Emotionally Impaired for 20 years. Last year I resigned teaching to focus on flying.

When I was growing up I lived across the road from a small grass strip airport where I was always watching the planes and skydivers. I knew someday that would be me doing those things. When I was a teenager my mother died and I decided instead of traveling for work I should stay closer to home to watch over my younger brothers. So that is what I did. 19 years later I kept thinking about the regrets I would have if I didn't follow my dream. At first I never thought about actually flying the plane but a flight attendant. My good friend asked me one day....Alanna, why don't you just fly the plane? Well I did and fell in love.

This has not been an easy task with all of the normal daily life things of keeping my house together, paying the bills and keeping 2 teenagers involved with what they do but I have not, nor will I give up on this dream. There has definitely been a lot of sweat and tears but someday I will achieve my goals of becoming a pilot!
